Application Process

The primary entry point into Troy Prep is Kindergarten, and is filled through a random lottery. Students who will be five years old by December 1 of the year they enroll will be eligible to enroll for that school year.

Families are invited to enroll their child for a Kindergarten through 11th grade seat. Applications will be automatically placed on our waitlist, and you will be notified once a seat becomes available.

If your child’s academic trajectory does not continue in a traditional fashion (i.e. is not promoted to the next grade at the end of the school year), please notify the school to ensure your child is on the appropriate grade’s waiting list. Waiting list numbers shift frequently throughout the year! Please be sure to create an account on SchoolMint or contact the school for status updates on your child’s position on the waiting list.

Kindergarten Lottery

Our Kindergarten lottery was held on April 2 via Zoom. You can watch See herea recording of the lottery here, and read the transcript here.

Troy Prep is free to enroll and attend. Any student whose family is a resident of New York State may apply. Enrollment preference is given to applicants who are eligible for free and reduced price lunch, qualify for English Language Learner services, have a sibling who currently attends Troy Prep, is the child of an employee at our school, or who live in the city of Troy. All students, including those receiving special education and English language learner support, are encouraged to apply.
